Design quality of life
The site is located in Tainan, south of Taiwan, in a residential area, and the east side is adjacent to Barclay Memorial Park. The strategy for this area is to combine resources such as sports, leisure, art and cultural activities in order to create a high-quality living residence that provides diversified functions for their future users.
Vertical courtyard, horizontal courtyard
The massing results in the conjunction of two volumetric compositions: towers (vertical courtyards) and podiums (horizontal courtyards). The tower is designed to have apartments on both sides of the main corridor, whilst the podium is single-sided. While both configurations meet the needs of household units, they also create a diversified living environment, providing tenants with a variety of types of rental housing options.
Disaster prevention enforcement of elderly housing
Due to the slow movement of the elderly residents, several vertical safety staircases were planned in order to shorten the escape step distance in an emergency. At the same time, multiple open spaces are configured inside and outside the building volume, which can be used as rescue platforms during the waiting period when a disaster occurs.
Anti-epidemic performance of residential configuration
In the face of unpredictable epidemics of infectious diseases in the future, the residential configuration is designed to set the cleaning areas like bathroom and kitchen near the entrance, so that residents can perform necessary cleaning operations when returning home from the outside, effectively avoiding bacteria and viruses into other living spaces.
