Old Elementary School with New Community

Throughout the years, the elementary school has become an important public space of memory for the neighborhood. The urban renewal considers keeping such relationship and spirit. Therefore, the project creates the community space within the center of the site and keeps the original school trees path to enhance the connection with the school. The tree path guides the entrance of public facilities and utilizes the old school main entrance as the entrance for the project. The original painted wall was kept as part of the landscape, while other metal window materials were reused on detail design to reinforce the public memory.

Living Space

Unlike regular housing, social housing needs to consider the diversity of its future residents to provide flexible and efficient organization structures while providing good public facilities and services. This is to adapt to the changes of population age shift and maximize the use of materials in order to reduce waste. The social housing should focus on both macro and micro scale of its physical space, such as massing development and each unit‘s natural lighting and air circulation.

Smart Community

Using intelligent building index, we apply smart technology to collect data and create optimized control parameters. This allows us to develop various building control systems that are humane and efficient, including solar energy, smart meter reading, rain water recycling, smart fire control, smart garden and smart access control. By introducing quality smart guidelines, we create a both high-tech and humane community and achieve 6 smart building goals: trust, convenience, comfort, safety, fire control and energy saving.
