The Industrial Technology and Research Institute(ITRI) is the engine of Taiwan’s industrial development. Its southern campus was programmed under the guidelines of green building technology and ecological construction.
The ecological pond in the center of the courtyard may adjust the micro climate and co-work with a nearby retention pool. Bamboo forest is a prosper scene in the campus area, utilizing this local material helps to reduce carbon footprint of the new construction. Locally produced brick is adopted for the pavement of the semi-outdoor walkway.
The upper deck of double roof, which goes up and down with the adjacent contour, is characteristic of the southern vernacular architecture. The building’s landscape vista dialoguing with the topography, as its roofs serve overlooking beautiful Chiayi Plain.
