"Mountain is the starting point of my original dream." — Chi Po-lin

This wall is an appreciation to those who have contributed financially to the realization of Chi Po-lin Museum. It was through the generosity from the people that made this museum possible. The museum displays the works by Chi Po-lin over his period of flying above Taiwan documenting the island.
The wall is a celebration of the “power of many”, an amalgamation of kindness and strength from many people. The design of this wall is inspired by mountain which covers 70% of the Taiwan island and it also symbolizes strength and sublime. It’s made up of 90 vertical white-coated aluminum panels that comes together to form the silhouette of the Xue Mountain which is the 2nd-highest mountain in Taiwan and in East Asia, at 3,886 m above sea level. This formation of panels signifies the results of togetherness in protecting the natural environment of Taiwan. The aluminum material draws a connection to that of the shell of the helicopter that took Chi Po-lin around Taiwan while the names of the donors are presented in a vertical lines which looks like raindrops or Snow from the sky onto the Xue Mountain.
A neon helicopter feature at the end of the wall is a representation of hope that continue to bring light to this beautiful island while making a sentimental memory towards the act of seeing and documenting Taiwan from above. At night, the mountain will be lit up, highlighting the edge of the mountain while creating a softness to the massive nature. It also hopes to convey the idea of fragility of our nature. The Mountain of Light is yet another starting point.
A point where we seek to represent the strength of unity in protecting this island.

“Mountain of Light”

If beliefs are lights, and dreams are mountains, then we must take action to protect our home and together construct a vision of this beautiful “Mountain of Light.”
On 27th December 2018, which is also the birth day of the late Director Chi Po-lin, Chi Po-lin Foundation launched a plan to construct the “Chi Po-lin Museum” as to continue the insistence of “seeing Taiwan and protecting our homeland”. This museum also hopes to foster the germination and prosperity of environmental education in Taiwan.
In the winter of 2019, with the support of 8,052 donors, we were able to open this museum in the Import Warehouse of Douglas Lapraik & Co. Building highlighting the realization of a loft dream. From this moment, we hope more people can see Taiwan under the director’s lenses and join our collective endeavor to protect this land of ours together!
