While enjoying the temperate climate of central Taiwan, the site of this research campus also bears the memory of the 1989.9.21 Earthquake: 2455 stone plates embedded on the site representing the same number of casualties of the Quake.
Since the footprint of the building covers half of the site, the roof of the building is turned into a green space tilting southwest to become part of the green belt of the area and stealth the building mass. The mechanical equipment’s need to be on the roof are housed inside the “volcanoes” which also help to dramatize the contour of the green roof. The 2455 memorial plates will all be reclaimed and relocated as the main feature of the landscape of the roof alongside with a 50 kwp BIPV canopy and wind turbines.
This building complies with the Taiwan Green building diamond grade standard and intelligent building standard.
