EVENT|The 12th Asian Contest of Architectural Rookie's Award
2023-07-05

The “Asian Contest of Architectural Rookie’s Award” sponsored by the BaF Foundation is now underway! This year’s competition theme is “Naturally Circular,” and we are excited to see the bold assumptions and imaginations of the young generation of architects regarding future architecture. All students are welcome to participate actively.
Topic 2023 : Naturally Circular - Circularity is the key step to sustainability
The network of life consists of many loops, big and small, all the information and materials are circulated, exchanged in these loopswhen everything is connected through these loops, the need for resources and waste are diminished; all the raw materials are assembled into something and disassembled afterwards within the loop. This is the formula to life’s self-sustainability on this planet, and with limited resources for billions of years.
Architecture is also a network that uses materials from this planet and constructs built forms. These built forms should also be designed with a recyclable application: to deconstruct, disassemble, and reduced to its raw materials, to flow through the loop. A circular architecture embeds the principles of life’s loops in all of its functions, establishing a system that is regenerative and restorative by design. In such architecture, the idea of waste is eliminated, with assets maintained at their highest levels of utility at all times and the use of digital technologies as a vital process enabler. A circular architecture aims to generate prosperity and economic resilience for itself and its inhabitants, while decoupling valuable creation and the consumption of finite resources.
