The original Nanmen Market was born in 1906; the crowded but heartfelt market has been the birthplace of many life-lasting memories. Due to safety reasons, ‘the heart of Taipei’ was demolished and relocated in 2019. Situated on the busy Roosevelt Road, the new Nanmen Market provides a modernized, open space that encourages communication between pedestrians and users and a shared experience among families.
From the outside, Nanmen Market’s robust massing serves as a continuum of the neighboring urban fabric; functionally, it integrates the entrance and exit of the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall MRT Station, seamlessly connecting with many Taipei citizens’ daily traffic flows.
